Vahan alternative: test how they speak, not just if they qualify
Vahan (YC S19) is an AI recruiter for India’s blue- and grey-collar workforce. It uses chat to screen huge numbers of applicants for delivery, logistics and similar jobs, and it does that at a scale few tools match.
Chat is good at eligibility: the right documents, the right location, the right hours. It is not built to tell you whether someone can calm down a customer on the phone or explain a bill clearly.
The short version
- Format: Vahan screens by chat. Greet runs a spoken conversation with an AI interviewer.
- What it checks: Vahan focuses on eligibility and logistics. Greet puts the candidate in a scenario from the job and scores how they handle it.
- Price: Vahan does not publish pricing. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions.
What Vahan is
Vahan, based in Bengaluru, is an AI recruiter for blue-collar and grey-collar hiring in India. It runs chat-based screening for large employers, especially gig and logistics companies, and fills roles like delivery partners in big volumes.
It does that very well. It has deep reach in India’s blue-collar labour market, local language support, and the capacity to handle very large volumes.
Where it falls short
From its own site and its Y Combinator profile:
- The focus is blue-collar roles in India. Other roles and markets are not what it is built for.
- Chat checks eligibility more than skill. Typed answers confirm requirements but do not show how someone talks to a customer.
- Pricing is not public.
What Greet does instead
Voice, because the job is voice
For a call centre agent, a support rep or a front desk role, the work is a conversation. Greet candidates talk to an AI interviewer from a browser or phone, and it asks follow-up questions when an answer is short. Greet can also call applicants directly. You hear clarity, tone and English level, which a chat thread cannot show.
The AI plays the customer
Write the situation and the AI plays the other side: a customer whose order arrived damaged, a caller who was charged twice, a patient who needs to move an appointment. Every candidate gets the same scenario, so you compare like for like.
Built for noisy rooms
Turn on Push to Talk so background noise does not cut in. Enable the chat option so candidates can type when they need to. Sessions run 5 or 10 minutes, so nobody has to block an afternoon.
Scores you set, recordings you can check
You decide what is scored: communication, English level, problem-solving, product knowledge. Each session returns a match rate, a written summary, a transcript and, on Pro and above, the recording. Export results as CSV or PDF, or connect your ATS through the API.

Which one to pick
Pick Vahan if you need thousands of delivery, logistics or other blue-collar workers across Indian cities, or you need screening in local Indian languages. Greet does not interview in Hindi.
Pick Greet if you are hiring English-speaking support agents, call centre staff or remote customer-facing roles, where you need to hear how someone speaks before you hire them.
Try it on one role
- Pick an English-speaking phone or support role.
- Write the call that new hires find hardest.
- Take the interview yourself with Play.
- Send the link to this week’s applicants and listen to the top three.
Create your Greet account and run it on one role.
