Spark Hire alternative: stop watching one-way videos, read the scores

11/3/2026 • 4 min read

Spark Hire made one-way video easy for small teams. You send a link, candidates record answers, and the videos land in your inbox. Then someone has to watch them. Fifty applicants at three minutes an answer, five questions each, is most of a working day.

The other catch is the format. Nobody asks a follow-up when an answer is vague. The candidate talks to a webcam, and you get whatever they said the first time.

The short version

  • Review time: With Spark Hire your team watches the videos. Greet scores every session and you open only the ones worth a look.
  • Format: Spark Hire records answers to fixed questions. Greet is a two-way conversation where the AI follows up and can play a role from the job.
  • Price: Spark Hire video interviews start at $249/month billed annually. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions.

What Spark Hire is

Spark Hire, based in the Chicago area, sells one-way and live video interviews, behavioural assessments and a separate applicant tracking system. Its customers are mostly small and mid-sized employers and staffing firms. Video interviews start at $249/month billed annually ($299 month to month), and ATS plans start at $335/month.

Credit where it is due: the pricing is published, setup is simple enough to run without IT, and the optional ATS helps if you do not have one yet.

Where it falls short

From its own pricing page and public write-ups:

  • No back-and-forth. Candidates record answers to a webcam. There is no conversation and no follow-up.
  • Review time grows with volume. Recruiters still watch the videos, so twice the applicants means twice the hours.
  • Separate products. Video interviews and assessments are sold separately, so testing skills and hearing the candidate can mean two purchases.

What Greet does instead

You read results instead of watching tape

Every Greet session returns a match rate, a written summary and the full transcript, plus the recording on Pro and above. Sort by score, read the summaries of the top ten, and play back only the moments you want to check. The work no longer scales with the number of applicants.

The interviewer listens

The AI asks your questions, hears the answer and follows up when it is thin. “I’m good with customers” gets a “tell me about the last difficult one.” Candidates start from a browser or phone whenever it suits them, and Greet can also call them.

The interview and the skills check are one session

You write up to 10 questions or scenarios. For a recruiting coordinator, the AI can play a hiring manager who wants a shortlist by Friday. For a support role, it plays a customer whose refund never arrived. You pick the assessment blocks (communication, problem-solving, English level, anything you define), and the same session scores them.

Setup is a sentence

Describe the role (“Screen support agents, 10 minutes, friendly tone”) and AI fills in the instructions, questions and settings. Press Play to take it yourself before anyone else sees it.

Which one to pick

Pick Spark Hire if you want to see every candidate on camera yourself, your volume is low enough that watching videos is fine, or you need a simple ATS from the same vendor.

Pick Greet if the videos are piling up, you want a follow-up question when answers are vague, and you would rather open a ranked list than a queue of recordings.

Try it on one role

  1. Pick the role where the video queue is longest.
  2. Turn your current Spark Hire questions into a Greet session, and add one scenario from the job.
  3. Take it yourself with Play.
  4. Send it to your next batch and compare how long review takes.

Create your Greet account and run it on one role.
