Sapia.ai alternative: hear how candidates sound, not just what they type

11/3/2026 • 4 min read

Sapia.ai has interviewed more than 10 million candidates through untimed text chat. It is easy for candidates to finish on a phone, and every one of them gets personalised feedback.

But if you are hiring for a call centre, a front desk or a sales floor, the chat leaves out the thing you most need to know. You never hear the candidate speak.

The short version

  • Format: Sapia.ai is a text chat. Greet is a voice conversation (with a typing option for candidates who need it).
  • What you learn: Sapia.ai scores written answers against competencies. Greet puts candidates in a spoken scenario and scores it on blocks you define.
  • Buying: Sapia.ai is sales-led with custom, often per-hire pricing. Greet lists $99/month for 100 sessions.

What Sapia.ai is

Sapia.ai, based in Melbourne, runs untimed, text-based chat interviews. It scores answers against role competencies and sends every candidate personalised feedback. It mostly serves large enterprises hiring at volume, typically 500 or more hires a year.

It does that well. The chat format works on mobile, candidates finish in their own time, every applicant hears back, and the company publishes research from a large dataset.

Where it falls short

From its own site and G2 reviews:

  • It is text-only. Tone, pace, clarity and how someone handles pushback do not show up in typed answers.
  • Some candidates struggle with it. Reviews mention accessibility concerns for candidates with dyslexia, and occasional false flags for AI-written content.
  • It is built for large employers. Pricing is not public and the purchase is sales-led.

What Greet does instead

You hear the candidate

Greet is a two-way voice interview in the browser, on desktop or phone, and Greet can also call applicants by phone. The AI speaks, listens and asks a follow-up when an answer is short. For phone and customer-facing roles, you get the evidence that matters: how they sound under a bit of pressure.

Voice first, typing when needed

If a candidate prefers to type, turn on Enable Chat Option. Push to Talk helps people in noisy places. Show Feedback lets candidates see their results, so they still hear back.

The AI plays the customer

Write up to 10 questions or scenarios. The AI can play an upset customer, a patient asking about a bill, or a caller who has been transferred three times. It stays in role. The candidate has to work the situation out loud.

Scores you can check

You define the assessment blocks: communication, English level, product knowledge, problem-solving. Each session returns a match rate, a written summary, the transcript and the recording (Pro and above). If a score looks off, listen to the moment.

No sales cycle

Describe the role in a sentence and AI fills in the questions and settings. Press Play to take it yourself. Share a link or import a CSV of applicants. Pro is $99 a month for 100 sessions; Enterprise is $200 a month for 500.
