Retorio alternative: one AI role-play tool for hiring and training

11/3/2026 • 4 min read

Retorio started in recruiting, with video-based behavioural analysis of candidates. Today it is focused on AI coaching: realistic role-play practice for sales, customer service, onboarding and leadership training.

That is a good product for a training team. But if you came to Retorio to screen applicants, the platform has moved toward people you have already hired. And plans are usage-based and tailored, with no fixed price published.

The short version

  • Focus: Retorio is now centred on training. Greet is built for screening first, and the same scenarios carry on into training.
  • Price: Retorio has no fixed published price. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions.
  • Signal: Greet scores what the candidate says and does in the scenario, on criteria you define.

What Retorio is

Retorio is a Munich-based company. Its platform runs AI role-play practice for sales, service, onboarding and leadership, mostly for enterprises in insurance, pharma, automotive and telecoms with large sales and service teams.

It does that well. Its role-play coaching for sales and service teams is strong, it has enterprise references in regulated industries, and it covers onboarding as well as ongoing training.

Where it falls short

From its own site:

  • It is now centred on training, not candidate screening.
  • Enterprise sales process. Plans are tailored and usage-based, with no fixed price published.

What Greet does instead

Screening is the main job

Greet is built for the first round. You share a link, or import a CSV of applicants and send each one a unique link. Candidates talk with an AI interviewer in the browser on desktop or phone, whenever suits them. Greet can also call applicants by phone. You get a ranked list back, not a training dashboard you have to adapt.

The role-play happens before the hire

You already know role-play works for training. Greet uses it to decide who to hire. The AI plays the customer, the patient or the angry caller, and asks follow-ups when the candidate is vague. Up to 10 custom questions or scenarios per session. Every applicant faces the same one.

The score comes from the conversation

You choose the assessment blocks, such as knowledge, communication, English level or problem-solving. Each is scored from the dialogue and answers, and you can include audio or video. Every session returns a match rate, a written summary, the transcript and the recording (recording on Pro and above). Camera is optional, so you can run voice-only for roles where appearance is irrelevant.

Then the same scenarios train the people you hired

The scenario that screened a new hire becomes their practice. They rehearse the hard calls with the AI before taking a real one, and you watch progress in the same dashboard. One tool, one set of scenarios, from application to first month.

A price on the page

Pro is $99/month for 100 completed sessions. Enterprise is $200/month for 500. Custom plans exist for more. Describe the role, let AI draft the session, press Play to try it, and send it out the same day.

Which one to pick

Pick Retorio if you are a large enterprise mainly looking for sales and service coaching for existing staff, and hiring is not the problem you are solving.

Pick Greet if you want role-play scenarios to decide who gets hired, and you would like the same scenarios to train those hires afterwards, on a plan you can buy today.

Try it on one role

  1. Take a scenario your trainers already use.
  2. Turn it into a Greet session and set the scoring criteria.
  3. Press Play and run it yourself.
  4. Send it to this week’s applicants, then give it to whoever you hire.

Create your Greet account and run your first scenario.
