Paradox alternative: hear candidates speak, not just tap through a chat

11/3/2026 • 5 min read

Paradox’s assistant, Olivia, is very good at one thing: keeping hourly applicants moving. It answers questions, asks a few knock-out questions over text and books the interview. Then a manager sits down with the candidate and finds out, for the first time, how they actually talk to people.

For a cashier, a call center agent or a front desk role, that is the part that matters. And since October 2025, Paradox is a Workday company, sold by quote as part of a much bigger suite.

The short version

  • What it checks: Paradox checks eligibility and availability over chat. Greet checks how someone handles a real situation from the job, out loud.
  • Price: Paradox is quote-only. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions, listed on the site.
  • Start: Paradox reviews describe a long implementation. Greet starts with a link you can send today.

What Paradox is

Paradox, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, makes Olivia, a conversational assistant that handles screening questions, candidate FAQs, interview scheduling, offers and onboarding over text and chat. Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox in October 2025. Its customers are mostly large frontline and hourly employers: restaurants, retail and logistics chains.

It does that well. Olivia is proven at very high volume across many locations, and the scheduling over SMS keeps candidates from going quiet between steps.

Where it falls short

From public reviews and pricing write-ups:

  • No published price. You get a number from Paradox or Workday sales, not from a pricing page.
  • Implementation takes time. Reviewers describe a lengthy rollout before the first candidate goes through.
  • Chat does not test the job. Screening is mostly knock-out questions and logistics. “Can you work weekends?” tells you nothing about how someone calms an upset customer.

What Greet does instead

Candidates talk, and you hear them

Greet runs a two-way AI voice interview in the browser, on desktop or phone. The AI speaks, listens and asks a follow-up when an answer is thin. Greet can also call applicants by phone. For roles where the job is talking, you hear the thing you are hiring for.

The AI plays the customer

You write up to 10 questions or scenarios. The AI can play a role: a diner whose order came out wrong, a caller asking about a late delivery, a patient who wants a same-day appointment. Every candidate gets the same situation, so the comparison is fair.

You still get the knock-outs

Nothing stops you from asking about shifts, location or certifications first. Put them at the start of the session, then move into the scenario. One link covers both.

You set the scoring

Choose the assessment blocks that matter for the role, such as communication, problem-solving or English level. Each session returns a match rate, a written summary, the transcript and the recording (Pro and above). If a score looks off, you can listen to the exact answer.

It works without switching suites

Greet is a standalone tool. Share a link, or import a CSV and send each applicant a unique one. If you run Workday, Greenhouse, BambooHR or another ATS, you can connect it through the API when you are ready, not before.

Which one to pick

Pick Paradox if you run hundreds of locations, your main problem is scheduling and candidate drop-off, and you already buy from Workday.

Pick Greet if your managers keep meeting candidates who looked fine on paper and fell apart on the first real conversation, and you want to hear that before the interview, not during it. The two can also run side by side: Olivia books, Greet screens.

Try it on one role

  1. Pick the customer-facing role with the most turnover.
  2. Describe it in a sentence and let AI draft the session.
  3. Press Play and take it yourself as a candidate.
  4. Send the link to this week’s applicants and compare the scores.

Create your Greet account and run it on one role.
