Onyx Recruiter alternative: voice screening that scores every applicant
Onyx Recruiter reads every CV, phones the qualified applicants in Arabic or English, and hands you a shortlist of up to six, each rated Strong, Recommended or Marginal. For a busy recruiter, that is a clean deliverable.
On a role with a few hundred applicants, though, six names is a small window. You may want to see who came seventh, and why.
The short version
- Output: Onyx returns a shortlist of up to six. Greet scores every candidate who completes a session.
- Interview: both talk to candidates by voice. Greet also lets the AI play a role from the job, like a customer or a caller.
- Price: Onyx pricing is not shown; a demo is offered. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions, listed on the site.
What Onyx Recruiter is
Onyx is a UAE-founded AI voice recruiter that launched globally in 2026. It reads each CV, calls qualified applicants by phone in Arabic and English, adapts its questions to the CV and the answers, and returns rated shortlists with recordings and transcripts. Its main buyers are Gulf talent teams and recruitment agencies.
It does that well. Phone interviews in Arabic and English, questions that follow the CV, and a clear shortlist are a strong fit for agencies filling roles fast.
Where it falls short
From its own site and press coverage:
- The shortlist caps at six. On large roles, good candidates can sit just outside it.
- Pricing is not published. The path in is a demo.
- It is new. The global launch was in 2026, so there is less public track record to go on.
What Greet does instead
Every candidate gets a score
Each completed session returns a match rate, a written summary, the transcript and the recording (recording on Pro and above). You sort the list yourself. If you only want to see the top ten, sort by score. If you want to see why someone scored low, play it back.
The AI plays the other side of the job
Questions are part of it. Scenarios are the other part. You can have the AI play a customer asking for a refund the policy does not allow, a patient confused about a bill, or a tenant calling about a broken boiler at night. The AI stays in character and asks follow-ups. The candidate has to handle it, not describe how they would.
You write the scoring
Assessment blocks are yours to define: knowledge, communication, English level, problem-solving, or anything the role needs. Greet scores from the dialogue, answers, audio or video against those blocks. Two candidates in the same session are judged on the same things.
You can start without a call
Describe the role and AI drafts the instructions, up to 10 questions or scenarios, and the settings. Press Play to take it yourself. Then share a link, import a CSV and send unique links, or have Greet phone applicants. Pro is $99 a month; Enterprise is $200 a month for 500 sessions.
It keeps going after the hire
The same scenarios work as role-play training. New hires practise the hard call before a real one, and you track their scores in the same dashboard.

Which one to pick
Pick Onyx if you need phone interviews in Arabic, you run an agency in the Gulf, and a short ranked list is exactly what you hand to your clients.
Pick Greet if your roles run in English, you want to see and sort every applicant yourself, and you want the interview to put candidates in a real situation from the job.
Try it on one role
- Pick the English-language role with the biggest pile of applicants.
- Write one scenario where the AI plays a difficult customer.
- Take it yourself with Play.
- Send the link and sort everyone by score.
