Lightscreen alternative: just the voice screen, with role-play built in

11/3/2026 • 5 min read

Lightscreen gets something right: for call center and healthcare roles, you need to hear the candidate, and a voice interview does that. But it comes as part of a full pipeline, with application intake, background checks and resume screening, and the price is a custom quote.

If you already have an ATS and a background check vendor, you may only want the middle piece. And for those roles, the most useful thing to hear is not an answer to a question. It is how someone handles the call itself.

The short version

  • Scope: Lightscreen is a full recruiting pipeline. Greet adds the voice screen to the tools you already use.
  • What it tests: Greet’s AI can play the caller, patient or payer rep, so the candidate works a real situation from the job.
  • Price: Lightscreen is not published. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions.

What Lightscreen is

Lightscreen, based in San Francisco and backed by Y Combinator (F24), is an AI recruiting pipeline. It combines application intake, background checks, resume screening and AI voice interviews, with solutions for frontline, healthcare, tech and call center hiring.

Fair credit: voice interviews suit phone-heavy roles, the pipeline view ties screening, checks and interviews together, and the healthcare and call center focus is explicit.

Where it falls short

From its own site and public listings:

  • No public pricing. Quotes are based on volume.
  • More to set up. Background checks and ATS automation come bundled, which adds work if screening is all you need.
  • Little public detail on role-play. It is not clear from public material how far you can script a custom scenario.

What Greet does instead

Only the step you are missing

Greet does not replace your ATS or your background check. It runs the first-round interview and hands back results. Share a link, import a CSV with unique links, or connect Greenhouse, Workday, BambooHR, Bullhorn or another ATS through the API. The integration is optional, so you can start with a link today.

The call is the interview

You write up to 10 scenarios or questions, and the AI plays a part. For a call center agent: a customer who was double-charged and wants it fixed now. For a nurse: a patient who is anxious about tonight’s medication. For medical billing: an insurance rep who keeps saying the claim is incomplete. The AI asks follow-ups and stays in character. One remote medical billing opening screened with Greet drew 1,220 applicants, and every one got the same call.

Scores you defined, recordings you can play

Pick the assessment blocks for the role, like communication, knowledge, English level or problem-solving. Each session returns a match rate, written summary, transcript and recording (Pro and above). Push to Talk helps candidates in noisy rooms, and they can type if they need to.

A price you can see

Pro is $99/month for 100 completed sessions, Enterprise $200/month for 500, with custom plans above that. Describe the role, let AI draft the session, take it yourself with Play, and send it out.

Training on the same calls

After the hire, the scenarios become practice. New agents run the hard calls with the AI before they take real ones, and their progress shows up in the same dashboard.

  2. Write the call your best agent dreads most.
  3. Take it yourself with Play and check the score.
  4. Send it to the next batch of applicants.
