AssessFirst alternative: hear them do the job, not fill a questionnaire
AssessFirst tells you how well a candidate is likely to fit a role. It gets there through personality, motivation and reasoning questionnaires, and its plans start at €499 a month.
A predicted fit is useful. But when the job is handling a frustrated customer on the phone, you still don’t know if this person can do it. And a candidate who wants the job can answer a questionnaire the way they think you want.
The short version
- Evidence: AssessFirst predicts fit from questionnaires. Greet records the candidate handling a scenario from the job.
- Price: AssessFirst starts at €499/month. Greet is $99/month for 100 sessions.
- Proof: Greet gives you the recording and transcript behind every score, so you can check it.
What AssessFirst is
AssessFirst is a Paris-based assessment company. Candidates complete online questionnaires on personality, motivation and reasoning, and predictive AI estimates how well they will fit and perform in a role. It mostly serves European mid-market and enterprise HR teams.
It does that well. Its fit models are built on large questionnaire datasets, its starting price is published, and it is useful for internal mobility as well as hiring.
Where it falls short
From its own site:
- It measures the person, not the work. Fit scores come from questionnaires, not from watching someone do the task.
- Questionnaires can be gamed. Candidates can answer strategically.
- The entry price is high for small teams. Plans start at €499/month.
What Greet does instead
The candidate does a piece of the job
You write the situation. The AI plays the other side: a customer asking for a refund outside policy, a patient upset about a bill, a payer rep denying a claim. The candidate has to respond out loud, and the AI pushes back or asks follow-ups the way a real person would. You learn how they handle it, not how they describe themselves.
Harder to answer “the right way”
There is no answer key to guess. The conversation moves with what the candidate says. Turn on Block Copy & Paste and Camera Required if you worry about outside help. For phone roles, you hear the thing that matters most: how they actually speak.
Scores you can open and check
You define the assessment blocks, such as knowledge, communication, English level or problem-solving. Every session returns a match rate, a written summary, the full transcript and the recording (recording on Pro and above). If a score surprises you, play the moment and decide for yourself.
A lower price to start
Pro is $99/month for 100 completed sessions, and Enterprise is $200/month for 500. Setup is minutes: describe the role (“Screen support agents for evening shifts, 10 minutes, friendly tone”) and AI fills in the instructions, questions and settings. Press Play to try it yourself, then share a link.
Use both if you like
Greet does not have to replace a personality profile. Some teams want a trait view and a work sample. Greet adds the spoken scenario as its own step, with results you can export as CSV or PDF.

Which one to pick
Pick AssessFirst if you want predictive personality and motivation profiles across a large workforce, for hiring and internal mobility.
Pick Greet if you hire for roles where the conversation is the job (support, sales, front desk, billing) and you want to hear each candidate handle a real situation before you book an interview.
Try it on one role
- Pick a role where good questionnaire scores have not always meant good hires.
- Write the hardest call that person takes in a normal week.
- Take the interview yourself with Play.
- Send the link to your current applicants and compare the scores with what you see.
Create your Greet account and test it on one opening.
